| We
have a short term emergency shelter to accommodate women and
children in need, whether they are fleeing an abusive relationship
or find themselves in a housing emergency or another crisis
situation. |
|
 |
 |
| If women
or children are in need of support or are experiencing a crisis,
we have a toll free number that they can call 24 hours a day.
Our staff are supportive and can provide an array of resource
information and or referrals. |
|
 |
 |
| This
provides out client service for women in the community dealing
with issues or as a follow up for women who have left the shelter.
The outreach workers provide support counselling to women (16+)
struggling with issues ranging from requiring assistance accessing
information on employment, housing, education, self esteem and
domestic violence. In addition, they are available to provide
in service training or presentation on a variety of topics.
Our Workers can also provide accompaniment to appointments such
as court appearances, lawyer, police, etc. |

 |
 |
| The
aims of this program are to provide individual and group counselling
to survivors of sexual assault who are over 16 years of age
and to develop individualized treatment plans. Through consoling,
women are able to explore their past to determine whether or
not abuse actually took place as some clients may be in the
process of discovery. In addition, our workers are able to meet
issues dealing with recent sexual assault in terms of support
counselling. Within this program, our worker also provides education
to the community about sexual assault and available support
services as well as providing necessary referrals. |
|
 |
 |
| In addition
to providing child care for residential clients, we also offer
support for children and mothers who enter the shelter, on-going
outreach support for children, and the Building Bridges Child
Witness Group for children who have been exposed to domestic
violence. |
|
 |
 |
| We educate
the public through different campaigns that we do, such as international
Woman's Day and International Day of the Child, May-Sexual Assault
Prevention Month, June-elder Abuse Prevention and Awareness,
November-Domestic Violence Prevention with the Green Lightbulb
Campaign, December 6-Take Back the Night to honor the women
who lost their lives in the Montreal Massacre. |
