| The
Child Support Worker provides the following client services
for children under the age of 16. |
- One-on-one support counselling
for children
- Develop safety plans with
the children
- Provide supervision when the
mother or care-giver is absent
- Provide transportation to
and from the shelter
- Help the mother enroll their
children in school or assist with homework assignments
- Provide the mother with information
regarding parenting, nutrition, and the implication of wife
assault and other issues on children
- Models behaviour and demonstrates
positive parenting and discipline methods for the mother
Refers mothers and children to appropriate community agencies
by assisting her in accessing these services
- Prepares children for court,
custody issues, divorce, separation, etc
- Provides accompaniment with
mother and child related to their plan of action
- Provide individual and group
sessions with children that promote educational activities
on self-esteem, anger management, domestic violence, safety,
personal hygiene, positive social skills, divorce and separation
- Offer recreational outings
when available
- Offer Children's Summer Program
and Child Witness Group
- Provide support and crisis
intervention for mother and children
